William ‘King’ Offutt officially joined BC Wood Properties in 2006 after having served as the company’s outside counsel, where he was heavily involved in acquisitions, financing, and leasing since 2002. His work continues to include all aspects of leasing, financing, acquisition, and operation of retail properties, as well as oversight of legal matters. Prior to joining the company, King practiced corporate and real estate law with Stites and Harbison, PLLC, a top-50-ranked law firm based in Kentucky. King obtained a BA from Denison University, obtained his Juris Doctorate from Tulane University Law School, and has been a member of the Kentucky Bar since 2001.
During his tenure with BC Wood Properties, King has taken a lead role in the acquisition of over 60 shopping centers, including financing, with an aggregate value of over $1B, and overseen the negotiation and finalization of hundreds of commercial leases.
King is a native of the Lexington area and remains highly involved in the community. He is currently serving as Co-head of capital fundraising for the Lexington Hearing and Speech Center, a school and outpatient service program for children with hearing and speech impairments that serves over 1,400 Kentucky children annually; King is also past Board Chair of LHSC and oversaw its expansion from an 8,500 square foot facility to a 55,000 square foot facility.
King lives just outside Lexington with his wife and two children.
